Theodore S. Haight

Theodore S. Haight (Bucky) was born on September 13, 1938, in Herkimer, N.Y., to William Haight and Violet Reed Haight and died on August 14, 2013, in Flagler Beach, Fla.

He was a twelve-year retired resident of Plantation Bay Golf and Country Club in Ormond Beach, Fla. He attended West Canada Valley Central School in Middleville, N.Y., where he lived, and finished high school at Berkshire Prep School in Sheffield, Mass., in 1956. He attended Dean Junior College in Franklin, Mass., from 1956-1958 and was drafted into the U.S. Army at Fort Sill, Okla., from 1959-1961. He graduated from Utica College, a division of Syracuse University, in 1963 and married Gretchen Morath in 1963, with whom he had two sons, William B. Haight of Chester, Vt., and Jonathan Haight. He married Patricia O’Mara Haight on July 29, 1978.

He started working for Moore Business Forms in 1963 and retired as an account executive after 37 years, having attended 19 Achievement Clubs in that time, including three in Hawaii and Bermuda. He also served as the regional vice president at the Club at the Esmeralda in Palm in 1990.

He is survived by his wife, Pat, of thirty-five years, his son William (Jeanette) and granddaughter, Violet, and son Jonathan. His brother William (Beverly) of New Bern, N.C., as well as stepson Alfred (Amy) Merchant and grandchildren Marina and Russell also survive.

Bucky was a longtime golfer who enjoyed nothing more than a good game of golf and a few friendly wagers with his golf buddies. He and Pat also enjoyed many Western golf vacations. He enjoyed the ocean, doing his own gardening, Pat’s cats, and he had become a voracious reader.

A reception for family, friends and golf buddies will follow at Prestwick Golf Club.
