OESJ board names new principal
OPPENHEIM – The Oppenheim-Ephratah-St. Johnsville Central School Board of Education recently appointed Ronald M. Smith as principal of the OESJ High School.
Smith’s appointment, which happened Friday, took effect immediately.
Smith began his administrative career in 2010 in the Greater Amsterdam School District where he was an assistant principal at Amsterdam High School and the district’s athletic director for two years. This past year, he worked as an assistant principal in the Enlarged City School District of Troy.
Before going into administration, Smith was a health and physical education teacher for 15 years in the Bethlehem Central School District.
In other administrative developments, the OESJ board recently accepted the resignation of O-E campus Principal Brett Barr.
Barr will be leaving the district to take an elementary principal’s position in the Cobleskill-Richmondville district, a news release said. Barr spent 10 years as a business teacher in Cobleskill-Richmondville before coming to O-E last year.
Interviews for his replacement are underway, the release said.
