District names new principal
OPPENHEIM – The Oppenheim-Ephratah-St. Johnsville Central School District Board of Education has appointed Rebecca M. Marzeski as principal of the David H. Robbins Elementary School.
Marzeski’s appointment takes effect immediately.
For the past three years, Marzeski was principal of the Walter B. Howard Elementary School in the New Lebanon Central School District. Before working in New Lebanon, Marzeski worked for two years in the Rome City School District, serving as the Staley Upper Elementary School’s assistant principal and then the district’s director of school improvement. Before beginning her administrative career, Marzeski was an elementary school teacher in the Mount Markham Central School District for 16 years. She achieved national board certification in 2004.
Marzeski obtained a bachelor’s degree in elementary education and a master’s degree in reading from the State University of New York at Oneonta. She earned her school building and district leader certification from SUNY Cortland.
In June, Brett Barr was appointed principal of the district’s Oppenheim campus, where an elementary school and the districtwide middle school, for students in grades six through eight, will be located.
The Oppenheim-Ephratah and St. Johnsville districts recently merged.
