Man hits girlfriend, kills cat, police say
GLOVERSVILLE – A city man was arrested Sunday after he struck his girlfriend in the face and killed her cat, police said.
Allen W. VanNostrand, 18, of 100 Lincoln St., was charged with third-degree assault and aggravated cruelty to animals, a felony.
Police said officers responded to the report of a domestic disturbance at the downstairs of 100 Lincoln St.
Upon arrival, police said, officers made contact with a female who stated she had been struck in the face by her boyfriend and sustained minor physical injury.
The female also notified police that the male, identified as VanNostrand, had killed a cat belonging to her.
Police said an investigation uncovered a deceased cat, and officers allege the cat was killed after it was repeatedly thrown against a wall and its neck was twisted and broken by VanNostrand.
VanNostrand was arraigned in City Court before Judge Joan Antonik and sent to the Fulton County Jail on $2,500 bail.
