Man gets prison time
FONDA – An Amsterdam man was sentenced to up to three years in prison Monday in Montgomery?County?Court after being arrested on child pornography charges last year.
William S. Davis, of 27 Academy St., pleaded guilty to possessing images of a sexual performance dealing with children under the age of 16 in June. He was arrested in January and again in March on the pornography charges.
The arrests stem from a November 2012 investigation by the Amsterdam Police Department. Davis has been incarcerated since the initial arrest.

A Canajoharie man pleaded guilty to second-degree assault Monday.
Jason F. Shutter, 24, of 105 Mohawk St., was arrested for an incident in the village May 10 after a fight with his girlfriend.
Shutter is expected to be sentenced to six months in the Montgomery County Jail and five years of probation on Sept. 16.
An Amsterdam man was sentenced to six months in the county jail, five years of probation, 100 hours of community service and has to pay $728 in restitution in connection with a January gang assault.
Nygee J. Roby, 19, of 27 McDonnell St., was arrested along with two other men for assaulting and robbing an individual on Market Street. The victim suffered minor injuries from the assault and was taken to St. Mary’s Hospital, where he was later released.
The trio took the victim’s belongings which included a cell phone, soccer bag and bracelet.
An Amsterdam woman was sentenced to five years of probation and ordered to pay $715 in restitution after pleading guilty to third-degree criminal mischief in May.
Veronica M. Bennett, 40, of 16 John St., was involved in an incident April 16 in which she reportedly broke two windows and fought with two women while being intoxicated.
