High Rollers sued over girl’s injuries
JOHNSTOWN – A Johnstown mother is suing High Rollers Recreational Center in Perth over injuries her daughter suffered at the entertainment complex last summer.
Jessica Baird of 11 Hall Ave., on behalf of her daughter, Alexandra Benfatti, on Wednesday filed a civil lawsuit seeking unspecified damages in state Supreme Court. A trial was requested by the family’s attorney, Heidi Gifford of Gloversville.
The suit says Benfatti was skating at High Rollers at 4313 Route 30 on Sept. 7, 2012, when she was struck by another skater engaged in “racing” at excessive speeds with a High Rollers employee. Court papers said the employee should have been acting as a “rink guard.” The lawsuit names High Rollers and its Chief Executive Officer Tracy Heller and owner Shelly Becker as defendants.
Benfatti, in her fall, suffered “serious permanent physical injury,” the lawsuit says.
