C1 to host free soccer clinic in August

GLOVERSVILLE – Change of 1 Ministry will host its fourth annual free soccer clinic with former professional player, Donn Truax, on Aug. 2 and 3 from 9 a.m. to noon at Darling Field in Gloversville.

The clinic is open to all children, ages 6 to 12. Registration begins each day at 8:30 a.m. and requires a parent or guardian signature.

This free clinic is presented by Change of 1 Ministry , a local non-profit Christian Ministry located at 60 N. Main St. in Gloversville.

The clinic is being led by the Executive Director of C1 and former pro payer, Donn Truax. Truax began his soccer career as a player in Scotia and went on to play semi-pro for the Cascade Surge in Oregon. Truax then received a contract to play with the Albany Alleycats and eventually settled with the Charlotte Eagles pro team out of Charlotte, N.C. With the Eagles, Truax climbed to the D-3 National Championship in 2000 and helped win the first national championship title for the Pro Club.

Truax and his wife, Cynthia Gates-Truax, a native of Gloversville, moved from Charlotte, N.C. in 2010 to establish C1.
