B-P reading program to start Monday
BROADALBIN – The inaugural Broadalbin-Perth Central School District Summer Book Club will begin Monday.
B-P students will be encouraged to read and respond to what they read through writing, artwork and other mediums, and have their work posted to the district website, a news release said.
Every day for 10 weeks, the district will announce a new book for students to read on its website and Facebook page. Parents will be able to receive the recommendations in their email inboxes by signing up for “school news notifier.”
Book recommendations for different grade levels will be posted each day. The books have been recommended by Broadalbin-Perth teachers and national literacy organizations. Many can be found at local public libraries. Families also can visit the Learning Community to access the 1,000 Book Club, which will be relocated to the lobby of the school, and the TLC media center, which will be open Wednesdays in July, starting July 10, from 11 a.m. to noon, according to the news release.
B-P schools will continue their respective reading-incentive programs during the summer. There will be prizes in September.
