Men charged after domestic incident

AMSTERDAM – Two Amsterdam men were charged following a domestic incident at 1 McClellan Ave. on Monday.

City police said Harry L. Ballard, 48, and Brad E. Miller, 25, both of 1 McClellan Ave., were charged with second-degree assault and third-degree criminal mischief, respectively.

Police said a resident of 1 McClellan Ave. heard glass breaking on the first floor, and found a fish tank broken and the kitchen door smashed.

Police said she told officers her boyfriend and son may have gotten into an argument, and that both were gone.

Officers located the two men and interviewed them.

Police said the two argued, ending when Miller threw a mason jar at Ballard. Ballard then grabbed a bat, police said, striking Miller in the neck. Miller then smashed the fish tank and broke the kitchen door, police said. Both men then fled the scene, police said.

While officers were transporting Miller, police said, he complained of dizziness, and was taken to St. Mary’s Hospital. He was treated and released back into police custody.

Both men were held for arraignment.
