Mary Todd Lincoln discussed in program

NORTHVILLE – “Diagnosing Mary Todd Lincoln” will be presented Tuesday from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the Northville Public Library.

Patricia A. Nugent will lead a discussion about Mary Todd Lincoln, a news release said, presenting information from Nugent’s recently published online article in Ms. Magazine.

“The talk will explore whether Mary Todd Lincoln was ‘a lunatic’ – as her only surviving son testified – or whether she was a woman who suffered immeasurable loss with too little support,” the release said.

Books written about Mrs. Lincoln also will be reviewed.

Nugent, an Edinburg resident, served as a school administrator and adjunct professor, and has been published numerous times in national professional journals, the release said.
