Fox tests positive for rabies
GLOVERSVILLE The red fox that chased and bit a city resident earlier this week tested positive for rabies, police said.
Police said a resident of the city was bitten several times by a red fox while in her yard June 3.
Police later found the red fox and killed it so it could be tested for rabies.
Subsequent testing by Fulton County Public Health determined the fox had rabies, police said.
The victim was notified of the test results and has been referred for treatment, police said.
Any other person who may have come into contact with the fox in the upper Bleecker Street area should take measures to avoid contracting the rabies virus, police said.
