Marie Taglialatela

Marie Taglialatela, 94, of County Highway 106, Amsterdam, died Saturday, June 1, 2013, at Mountain Valley Hospice.

She was born in Burgfarrnbach, Germany on May 2, 1919, a daughter of the late Georg and Elisabeth Graf Ruffus, and was educated there. Marie came to the United States with her husband in 1947, and later became a U.S. citizen. She lived in Gloversville for 62 years before moving to Black Street to live with her daughter in 2010.

Mrs. Taglialatela was a devoted wife and mother who always enjoyed cooking, baking, and providing memories for her family. She loved traveling and was always happy to go for a car ride.

She was married to Arthur Taglialatela on May 11, 1947. He died December 6, 2009. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her siblings, Dori Talhammer, Katherine Probst, Gretl Lehmeier, and Leonard and Hans Ruffus of Germany.

Survivors include a daughter, Linda (Bruce) Scribner of Amsterdam; three grandchildren, Steven (Shelly) Scribner, Terry (Andrea) Scribner, and Susan (Mark) Fenstermacher; six great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A private graveside service, with the Rev. Dr. R.W. Williams officiating, will be conducted at the Prospect Hill Cemetery, Gloversville at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice or to the American Cancer Society, both in care of the funeral home. Arrangements are by the Robert M. Halgas Funeral Home Inc., 111 County Highway 106, Johnstown.
