Aaron E. Reid
Mr. Aaron E. Reid, 42, of Gloversville, passed away on Friday, May 24, 2013, at his home.
Aaron was born on July 21, 1970, at Oaknoll Naval Hospital in Oakland, California. He was the son of Paul E. Reid and the late Susan C. (Rose) Reid. He attended Gloversville schools and Fulton-Montgomery Community College.
Most recently, Aaron was employed as a custodian at SUNY Albany. He previously worked as a Youth Division aide at Tryon Residential Center. Aaron’s 14 years of employment at Tryon brought many new friends into Aaron’s life. Anyone who knew Aaron knew that he loved his family and friends whole heartedly. He was an honest and faithful friend to all. Aaron’s friends were his family and he enjoyed nothing more than simply spending time with them. Aaron held a special place in his heart for Brittany Schubert, who he looked after as if she was his daughter.
Aaron was an avid outdoorsman. In the summer, Aaron enjoyed boating, fishing, camping, and swimming. He was a member of the Ephratah Rod and Gun Club. Aaron also carried the nickname of “Deer Slayer” during hunting season. He loved to hunt both big and small game. In the winter, Aaron had a passion for snowmobiling. He rode for personal enjoyment and also was a member of the following snow cross teams: Team 99 and Hulten Speed Sports, of which he held various titles, such as team mechanic and team chef. Aaron also enjoyed playing the drums and would have “jam sessions” every chance he got.
Aaron is survived by: his father, Paul E. Reid; two sisters, Annissa C. Clute (Jim) of Gloversville and Meghan E. Allmon (Tim) of Lake Como, Florida; two brothers, Matthew J. Reid and Christopher P. Reid (Jessica Tambasco) of Gloversville; five nieces and nephews, Collin and Devyn Clute, Dominic and Alyssa Allmon and Owen Reid. He also is survived by several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
