Francesco ‘Frank’ Malagisi Sr.

Mr. Francesco “Frank” Malagisi Sr., age 72, of Caroga Lake, died Sunday, May 26, 2013, at St. Mary’s Hospital, Amsterdam, with his loving family at his side.

He was born May 29, 1940, in Gloversville, the son of the late Pasquale and Elizabeth Tascillo Malagisi. A 1958 graduate of Gloversville High School, he later served in the Army National Guard from 1959 to 1965. He worked at G. Levor and Company, Liberty Leather Corp., Munch Tanning in Buffalo and for the Feuer Corp. at Pan American Tanning and Karg Brothers Tannery.

Frank was a member of the Church of the Holy Spirit and the Knights of Columbus Council No. 265. At the time of his death he was serving his 20th year as a member of the Board of Directors of the Gloversville and Johnstown Joint Wastewater Treatment Facilities. He was a former member of the Fulton County Tanner’s Association.

He was married to Sally Ann Willis on March 4, 1962, who survives. Also surviving are: four sons, Francesco Malagisi Jr. (Tammy) of Caroga Lake, Michael P. Malagisi Sr. (Melinda) of Gloversville, David R. Malagisi (Rebecca) of Johnstown and Pasquale “Pat” Malagisi of Meco; two sisters, Michelina DeRosa (Frank) and Angelina Savaga (John), both of Gloversville; two brothers, Andrew Malagisi (Cecelia) of Gloversville and Joseph Malagisi (Kathy) of Ohio. He also leaves behind ten grandchildren, Michael Jr., Mark, Francesco III, Pasquale Jr., Ethan, Zachary, Jordan, Cheyenna, Megan and Davey; two great-grandchildren, Liliyan and Anthony Joseph; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Frank was predeceased by a sister, Mary E. Veeder, whose husband, Brian Veeder, survives.

The family will receive relatives and friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 29, at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St., Gloversville. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Church of the Holy Spirit, Gloversville. The Very Rev. Donald Czelusniak will be the celebrant. Interment will take place at Mount Carmel Cemetery, Johnstown.
