Mr. Virgil Insonia, 90, of Gloversville, passed away May 22, 2013. He was born May 6, 1923, in Gloversville, son of the late Guiseppe and Adeline DiMaio Insonia. Mr. Insonia was a 1941 graduate of Gloversville High School and employed most all his life in the leather industry. Virgil worked many years at Liberty Leather in Gloversville where he was a spray line swabber supervisor. He also worked part time at Antonucci Produce in Gloversville for many years.
Virgil worked hard taking care of his extensive property. He was very proud of his home and landscaping. He was especially proud of the beautiful floral and vegetable gardens he cared for each year. Well known for his cooking skills, Virgil enjoyed sharing food and recipes with family and friends. He will always be remembered for his quick wit and keen memory for a joke.
Virgil was predeceased by his wife, Virginia Mackowski Insonia, whom he married November 23, 1947. Survivors include several nieces and nephews. He was also predeceased by his sisters, Rita Hayes, Viola Meyers, Emma Insonia; and his brothers, Rinaldo, Patrick, Guiseppe (Joe), Queedie, Orlando and Dominic.
The family will receive friends on Saturday from 4 to 6 p.m. at Kobuskie-Konik Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St., Gloversville. Urn burial in Prospect Hill Cemetery will be at the convenience of his family.
