Fulton County renews lease with operator at airport
JOHNSTOWN – The Fulton County Board of Supervisors this week renewed the county airport operator’s lease.
The board renewed the lease agreement with The 195 Factory of West Glenville, Schenectady County.
The company is the airport’s manager of the airport on County Highway 153, just off Route 67.
The original lease went from May 2008 to this month. The new lease requested by owner William Milton will run until May 2018.
County Senior Planner Sean Geraghty today said The 195 Factory will pay these rent amounts to the county during the duration of the new lease: 2013-14 – $12,000; 2014-15 – $12,360; 2015-16 – $12,720; 2016-17 – $13,080; and 2017-18 – $13,440.
The county will seek requests for proposals for a lease of the restaurant building at the airport. The building is currently leased to Grandma Millie’s Bakery & Cafe, owned by Chauncey McCormick.
The lease with Grandma Millie’s expires June 30.
County Administrative Officer Jon Stead said McCormick is welcome to submit a new proposal.
The building has been the site of many restaurants over the years, starting with the former B-29 Cafe in the 1990s. Proposals have to be sent to Stead, the county’s purchasing agent, by 2 p.m. June 12.
In other new concerning the airport:
The board authorized submittal of this five-year airport capital plan to the Federal Aviation Administration: 2014 – no projects; 2015 – update master study and airport layout plan, $90,000; 2016 – construct access road to the hangars and repair parking lot, $450,000 cost; 2016 – expand paved apron, $450,000 cost; 2017 – engineering to extend Runway 10 to the west, $400,000 cost; 2018 — extend Runway 10 to the west, $4 million cost.
Supervisors authorized a $64,000 application to the state Department of Transportation for an aviation capital grant to complete airport renovations. Work includes LED light bulbs for the runway and taxiway; and lighting, windows and wireless Internet access in the operator’s building.
The board approved the Twin Rivers Council, Boy Scouts of America’s fall camporee from Oct. 4 through 6 at the airport.
