H.S. Baseball Roundup: Braves breeze past Cannoneers, 13-2

FONDA – Dan Valachovic pitched a six-hitter to lead Fonda-Fultonville to a 13-2 win over Watervliet in a Colonial Council baseball game Wednesday.

Valachovic also had two RBIs for the Braves.

Kevin Twardzik was 3-for-4 with three RBIs for Fonda-Fultonville (10-7 overall, 9-6 Colonial), while Anthony Sinicropi had a single and two RBIs. Kevin Myers and Lucas Calkins each had a single and an RBI for FFCS, while Richard Bagley, Pat Hart and Zak Shaw also had singles.

Jimmy Griffin had two singles for Watervliet (5-13 overall, 4-11 Colonial), while Jon Parker added a double. Frank Capone, Logan Miller and Taylor Dockstader all had singles for the Cannoneers.

Fonda-Fultonville will face Gloversville on Friday in the consolation game of the Gloversville Tournament at Husky Field at 4 p.m. Broadalbin-Perth will face Schuylerville in the championship game at 7 p.m.

WELLS – Wells clinched the Mountain and Valley Athletic Conference Southern Division title with a win over Minerva-Newcomb.

Ernie Hoffman had a single, double and six RBIs for Wells (9-2 overall, 7-0 MVAC), while Seth Weaver had three hits, three RBIs and one run scored. Jake Earley added two hits and two runs scored for Wells.

Weaver also picked up the win on the mound for the Indians, striking out 11, walking five and allowing five hits. Weaver improved to 4-1 on the season.

Austin Williams had a double, single and two runs scored for Minerva-Newcomb (3-6 overall, 3-6 MVAC), while Jorge Bertomeau also had two hits and one run scored.

BROADALBIN – Mike Forshey struck out 11, allowed one hit and walked three in six innings, leading Scotia-Glenville to a shutout win over Broadalbin-Perth.

Forshey also went 2-for-2 with two singles, two walks and two runs scored for Scotia-Glenville (13-6 overall, 11-3 Foothills), while Chris Borden had two RBIs for the Tartans.

Mike Visco, Anthony Visco and Luigi Magliocca each singled for Broadalbin-Perth (11-8 overall, 7-7 Foothills).

Shannon plated the game-winning run with an RBI single in the bottom of the sixth as the Cougars rallied from a 5-0 deficit to earn the win.

Zach Bowerman was 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs for Canajoharie (10-6 overall, 10-6 WAC), while Jace Fox added an RBI single.

Ryan Czarnecki and Mike Naughton each had two hits for Saratoga Catholic (14-4 overall, 13-3 WAC).

Devan Battisti finished with a single and a double for the Saints, while Payten Johnson added a triple.
