Judge allows Northampton music festival
JOHNSTOWN – A judge today ruled a three-day music festival in Northampton can start Friday as scheduled.
State Supreme Court Judge Joseph Sise denied Northampton’s effort to prohibit the Mama Strawberry Jam Festival, organized by Deborah Bant at the Solid Rock Ranch in Northampton.
The town asked the court to block the festival. Town officials, who said they are concerned about noise and other possible problems at the festival, argued the event would violate the town’s Special Event Permitting Law.
Sise said the show can go on this year, but overnight camping wouldn’t be allowed at the site without state Department of Health approval.
Bant said she is relieved she can still hold the event.
