FFCS wins Papierniak Tournament

FONDA – The Mayfield softball team fell in both if its games Saturday at the annual Papierniak Softball Tournament at Fonda-Fultonville High School.

The Lady Panthers fell to Amsterdam 7-1 in the opening game and dropped the consolation game to Gloversville 11-6.

Anna Husain had nine strike outs, allowed seven hits and walked seven against Amsterdam. She contributed two singles at the plate, while Maria Messina had a single and an RBI and Lisa Hime and Nicole Little both singled.

Ashley Przybylowiz had a home run and a triple for Amsterdam, while Bailey Archinal, Amber Richardson, Rebecca Gardenier, Brittany Durose and Meg Little all singled.

In the consolation game Messina had two singles and an RBI for Mayfield, while Nicole Little had a double, single and three RBIs.

Shawna Funk and Jess Devoe had two singles apiece for Gloversville, while Emily Town, Morgan Patterson, Brooke Washburn and Ashley Funk all singled.

Fonda-Fultonville defeated Amsterdam, 3-2, in the championship game.
