Glenn Seelow

Memorial services for Glenn Seelow, 81, of Kempner, Texas, was at held Saturday at Scott’s Funeral Home in Copperas Cove.

Mr. Seelow died May 7, 2013, in Killeen. He was born Oct. 26, 1931, in Gloversville, N.Y., to the late Watson and Rose Vosburg Seelow.

He graduated from Gloversville High School and later married Betty Duffek in New York on March 7, 1951. Before enlisting in the Air Force, he was offered a contract to sing on a radio station in 1950 in Rutland, Vt., as he sounded so much like Eddy Arnold. He joined the U.S. Air Force that same year and served for 23 years and seven months before retiring in 1974, as a technical sergeant.

Mr. Seelow began volunteering with the Boy Scouts of America in the early 1960s. After retiring from the Air Force, they lived in San Antonio, where he began to be more active with the Boy Scouts of America and began his professional involvement with the organization that lasted nearly 20 years. However, he volunteered for many years after that. He retired as a commissioner of Scouting for the state of Texas.

In the past few years, he was active at the Clear Creek Golf Course. He loved his time on the course playing and visiting.

Mr. Seelow was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Glenn Michael Seelow; one brother; and two sisters.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Betty Seelow; daughters, Elaine Krewet and Barbara VanSpanje and her husband, Kevin; sons, Budd Seelow and his wife, Tammy and Mark Seelow; daughter-in-law, Debbie Poe; sister, Sally Town; brother, Sonny Seelow; nine grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
