Safety program set for May 21
AMSTERDAM – A women’s safety and crime prevention education program will be held at 6 p.m. May 21 at St. Mary’s Carondelet Pavilion auditorium, 380 Guy Park Ave.
The program, for adult women only, is free to all women 18 years old and older. A reservation is required, a news release said.
The presenters are: Sgt. Owen Fuhs of the Amsterdam Police Dept.; Veronica Parks, coordinator of the Montgomery County Sexual Assault Support Services; Officer Mike Malatino, certified defensive tactics instructor of the Amsterdam Police Dept.; Officer Jeff Lozier, certified defensive tactics instructor; Detective Amanda Spaulding of the Amsterdam Police Dept.; Officer Angelita Clymer of the Amsterdam Police Dept.; and Assistant District Attorney Kelli P. McCoski, the news release said.
Attendees will learn about how to avoid becoming a victim of a crime or sexual assault. Participants will learn from expert law enforcement professionals with years of experience in crime prevention, education and enforcement.
This program is made possible by St. Mary’s Healthcare, the Amsterdam Police Department and the Montgomery County Sexual Assault Support Services, the release said.
