H.S. Softball Roundup: FFCS loses to Schalmont, 10-2

FONDA – Erika Gogis was 4-for-5 with a home run, double and two singles, powering Schalmont to a 10-2 win over Fonda-Fultonville in a Colonial Council softball game Wednesday.

Emily McLaughlin finished with a double and a single for the Sabres.

Lauren Maher pitched a two-hitter to earn the complete-game win for Schalmont, which scored seven runs in the second inning on its way to the win.

Sam Hart had a doubles for Fonda-Fultonville (5-8 overall, 5-8 Colonial), while Cory Lais had an RBI single.

Dolgeville wins pair

OLD FORGE – Cheyanne Sullivan picked up the win in both games as Dolgeville swept a doubleheader at Old Forge.

In the first game, Sullivan pitched a six-hitter to help the Blue Devils to a 17-9 win.

Sullivan pitched a six-hitter in the second game as Dolgeville (3-12 overall) posted a 6-4 victory.

Old Forge slipped to 1-10 overall and 1-7 in CSC play.

CANAJOHARIE – Shy Logan went 4-for-4 with a double, leading Canajoharie to a win over Fort Plain.

Morgan Gray had a single, double and a triple for the Lady Cougars, while Brittany Pitonza had two doubles and a single. Lauren Balfe and Bri Slater each went 2-for-4 with a double for Canajoharie (4-7 overall), while Katie Towse was 2-for-3 with a double and three RBIs.

Allehah VanLoan was 2-for-4 with a double and two runs scored for Fort Plain (12-5 overall), while Jamie Fredericks was 2-for-2.

Fort Plain is scheduled to host Mayfield today in the WAC Cup semifinals at 4:30 p.m., while Canajoharie is slated to travel to St. Johnsville today.

Leann Knapp pitched a four-hitter to earn the win for St. Johnsville.

Knapp finished with 10 strikeouts and four walks on her way to the complete-game victory.
