Gloversville tennis competes in tourney
QUEENSBURY – Gloversville sent four doubles teams to the Foothills Council Tennis Tournament at Queensbury High School.
In the A tourney, both teams reached the semifinals before losing.
Kyle Gargulio and Scotty Bruce won their quarterfinal match over Scotia-Glenville’s Cody Soule and Mike Rice, 8-3. In the semifinals, Bruce and Gargulio lost 8-3 to Scotia-Glenville’s Adam Ashcroft and Aaron Keegan.
Jordan Coughlin and Mike Marotta won their quarterfinal match over Queensbury’s Greg Wetmore and Billy Robers, 8-6. In the semifinals, they lost to Queensbury’s Alex Castonguay and Josh Silverberg, 8-0.
Castonguay and Silverberg won the doubles title with an 8-6 win over Ashcroft and Keegan.
In the B doubles tourney, Gloversville’s Jessica Clet and Sarah Lebel won their first match over Hudson Falls’ Aiden Templeton and Fred Paulsen, 8-4. They lost their semifinal match to Queensbury’s Brandon DeMarsh and James Twyman, 8-0.
Gloversville’s Josh Daly and Austin Alikhan lost their first-round match to Queensbury’s Justin Hafner and Patrick McMore, 8-1.
Hafner and McMore went on to win the B double title with a 9-7 win over DeMarsh and Twyman.
