HealthLink plans hike up Kane Mt.

CAROGA?- HealthLink Littauer, the community health and wellness service of Nathan Littauer Hospital and Nursing Home, has announced its monthly “Hiking For The Health of It” outing will take place Saturday.

The hike up Kane Mountain, near Canada Lake, is moderate, with a 600-foot ascent. It is roughly a 2-mile round trip.

“Join us on a family hike to experience the physical and mental benefits of the great outdoors,” Steve McGrattan, a state-certified wildland search and rescue volunteer, said in a news release. “We’ll hike along an old Jeep road to the fire observer’s cabin and climb the restored fire tower on the summit for panoramic views of the surrounding lakes and beyond.”

This hike is open to those with outdoor walking and climbing experience and the physical ability to go the distance. The group will meet in Caroga Lake at 10 a.m. and then car pool to the trailhead on Route 10.

A $6 guide fee will be payable in advance at HealthLink to reserve one’s space. For more information or to participate, call HealthLink Littauer at 736-1120.
