Hoagboon, Nethaway help Albany to win
ALBANY – Fonda-Fultonville graduate Josh Nethaway and Mayfield graduate D.J. Hoagboon, both juniors on the University at Albany baseball team, helped the Great Danes split a doubleheader with Maine on Saturday.
Maine won the first game 8-6 and Albany won the second game 4-3.
The win was the 300th career win for Albany coach Jon Mueller
In the first game, Nethaway was 1-for-4 with a run scored for Albany.
In the second game, Nethaway was 3-for-4 with a double for Albany (21-18-1 overall, 14-9 America East), while Hoagboon was 1-for-3 with a double, run scored and RBI.
Nethaway leads Albany with a .342 average and a team-high 14 doubles. He also had 29 RBIs this season.
Hoagboon is hitting .226 this season with 14 RBIs.
The final game of the series will take place today at noon at Albany’s Varsity Field.
