H.S. Baseball Roundup: Fort Plain rolls past Middleburgh, 17-0

FORT PLAIN – Dakota Nemecek had a single, double, triple, four RBIs and three runs scored, leading Fort Plain to a 17-0 win over Middleburgh in a Western Athletic Conference baseball game Wednesday.

Nemecek also picked up the win on the mound, combining with Trent Douglas and Jesse Heroth on a one-hitter.

Marcus Failing had a single, triple, three RBIs and two runs scored for the Hilltoppers (11-0 overall, 10-0 WAC), while Drew Fureno and Kiernan Briggs each had a single and two RBIs. Tim Wolfe and Joey Ray each had two singles and an RBI for Fort Plain, which faces Saratoga Catholic on Friday at 4:30 p.m. at Joe Bruno Stadium in Troy. Fort Plain is ranked sixth in Class C in the latest state rankings, while Saratoga Catholic is the seventh-ranked team in Class B. The game also will be televised live on Time Warner Cable Sports.

Austin Roney had the lone hit for Middleburgh (1-10 WAC).

QUEENSBURY – Jon Heroth went 4-for-4 with two doubles and an RBI, leading Johnstown to am eight-inning win over Queensbury.

Johnstown trailed 3-0 after the first inning before rallying to tie the game and scoring twice in the top of the eighth to earn the win.

Adam Caputo and Richie Lee each had singles in the eighth for the Sir Bills, while Heroth had an RBI double.

Robert Brown added an eighth-inning suicide squeeze for Johnstown (6-4 overall, 5-3 Foothills).

Connor Rodecker earned the complete-game win on the mound for the Sir Bills.
