H.S. Softball Roundup: Schoharie slips past Canajoharie

CANAJOHARIE – Sydney Foland struck out 11 and earned the complete-game win as Schoharie edged Canajoharie, 4-3, in eight innings Tuesday in a Western Athletic Conference softball game.

Kaitlyn Kendle went 4-for-4 for Schoharie (5-3 WAC), while Sydney Stanley, Jill Scofield and Rachel Randazzo each had two hits.

Lauren Balfe went 3-for-5 for Canajoharie (3-6 overall, 3-5 WAC), while Morgan Gray was 2-for-3 with two doubles. Bri Slater, Taylor Fancher, and Katie Towse each had two hits for the Lady Cougars.

ST. JOHNSVILLE – Rylie Smith and Marissa Nellis both had RBI doubles in the seventh inning as St. Johnsville scored twice to rally past Sharon Springs.

Smith finished 2-for-4 for the Lady Saints (2-7 overall, 2-5 WAC), while Aryon Feagles, Kristen Raux, Samantha Mumford, Samantha LaCoppola all had a hit and a run scored.

Saratoga Catholic 26, Berne-Knox-Westerlo 25

SARATOGA SPRINGS – Mackenzie Franck drove in the winning run Tuesday, as Saratoga Central Catholic topped Berne-Knox-Westerlo.

The Saints scored six runs in the bottom of the ninth on their way to the win.

The teams combined for 48 hits in the game.

Jocelyn Mahar went 4-for-5 with four runs scored for Saratoga Catholic (8-3 overall, 6-3 WAC), while Meghan McDonough went 4-for-5 and scored five runs.

DOLGEVILLE – Herkimer scored 13 runs over the first three innings on its way to a shutout win over Dolgeville.

Mckenzie Pine pitched a three-hitter for Herkimer.

Fonda-Fultonville 12, Watervliet 11

WATERVLIET – Emily Frollo had a solo home run, RBI double and single, leading Fonda-Fultonville to a win over Watervliet on Monday.

Frollo’s home run came in the top of the seventh and provided a much-needed insurance for the Lady Braves.

Allyson Putnam had three singles and the game-winning RBI in the seventh for FFCS (3-4 overall, 3-4 Colonial), while Monica Derby finished with a two-run triple, RBI single and RBI sacrifice. Sam Hart added a double and a single for the Lady Braves.

Taylor Daniels had a three-run home runs, two singles and two doubles for Watervliet, while Jennah Hogan had three singles. Shelby Dugan added a triple for the Lady Cannoneers.

Fort Plain 4, Remsen 2

RICHFIELD SPRINGS – Kendra Trembley had a double to lead Fort Plain to a win over Remsen in the championship game of the Richfield Springs Tournament on Saturday.

Jenna Barhydt, Abby Boyer, Allehah VanLoan, Jenna Fredericks and Shawna Cotton and Brianna Florian all had singles for the Lady Hilltoppers.

Fredericks earned the win in the circle, allowing six hits, striking out three and walking one for Fort Plain (10-4 overall), which finished a stretch of 10 games in 11 days with an 8-2 record in that span.
