Walmart says supercenter will open in August

GLOVERSVILLE – The Walmart Corp. on Friday said the opening date for its new Gloversville supercenter will be in the beginning or middle of August.

Amanda Henneberg, Walmart’s senior manager for communications, based in Washington, D.C., said previous reports by local officials of the store opening in mid-July are incorrect. She said the new store at the end of South Kingsboro Avenue is scheduled to be open about a month later than that.

Henneberg said the public will be notified about ongoing construction of the 157,100-square-foot retail outlet, the eventual closing of the Walmart store on Fifth Avenue Extension in the town of Johnstown, and jobs available at the new store.
