Meeting to share ideas

Abraham Lincoln stated, “The legitimate object of government, is to do for a community of people, whatever they need to have done, but cannot do, at all, or cannot, so well do, for themselves – in their separate, and individual capacities.” So the question all of us should be asking, does Fulton County Government, on all levels, pass that test today?

I believe that our community needs creative ideas and new thoughts about what is in the best interest of our community. Maybe it is time to have a countywide commission to look at options for better governance. I don’t have all the answers, but I would be open to listening to ideas. Fulton County CSEA Local 818 is hosting an open meeting for everyone in our community to come together to share ideas on how our county, cities, towns, villages and school boards can better provide for the people in our community.

Please consider attending the meeting on Monday at 6:30 p.m. at the CSEA office at 40 N. Main St., Gloversville, on the second floor.

Please remember what noted cultural anthropologist Margaret Meade said: “Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed people can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.”
