H.S. Softball Roundup: Lady Patriots lose, 9-1

BROADALBIN – Holly Rock and Nicole Sheloski each had three hits to lead Hudson Falls to a 9-1 win over Broadalbin-Perth in a Foothills Council softball game Wednesday.

Sheloski had a double and three RBIs for the Tigers, while Rock had three doubles and two RBIs

The Tigers scored five times in the top of the sixth to break the game open.

Hannah St. Claire earned the win in the circle, allowing just four hits.

St. Claire also had a double, single and two RBIs for Hudson Falls (2-1 overall, 2-1 Foothills), which had 18 hits in the game. Meghan Barton added two hits and two RBIs.

Broadalbin-Perth slipped to 2-3 overall and 2-2 in Foothills play with the loss.

QUEENSBURY – Johnstown scored seven runs in the second inning on its way to a Foothills Council win at Glens Falls.

Ellen Praught had a double for the Lady Bills (2-2 overall, 1-2 Foothills).

Kaili Jackson and Betsy Burgess each had two singles for Glens Falls (1-3 overall, 1-2 Foothills), with Jackson added an RBI.

Tori Agnew added an RBI single for Glens Falls.

MAYFIELD – Nicole Little had a double, single and an RBI to lead Mayfield to a win over Galway.

The Lady Panthers trailed 4-0 heading into their half of the second before rallying for the win.

Anna Husain earned the win in the circle for Mayfield, striking out two, walking none and allowing seven hits.

Mackenzie Biggers had a double, two singles and three RBIs for Mayfield (3-1 overall, 2-1 WAC).

Hannah Smith had two doubles for Galway, while Sabrina Williams added two singles.

Rebekah Reichard and Jesse Uline each had a single and an RBI for the Golden Eagles.

FORT PLAIN – Duanesburg coach John Conway picked up his 300th career win as the Eagles topped Fort Plain in a WAC contest.

Conway is 300-62 in 14 seasons as Duanesburg coach.

Erika Kenney and Tori Powers combined to pitch a two-hitter for Duanesburg. Kenney struck out one, walked one and allowed two hits, while Powers struck out six, walked none and allowed no hits.

Hannah McGuire was 5-for-5 with three runs scored and two RBIs for the Eagles, while Steph Rice had three singles and three runs scored. Rachel Gamache had a triple, single and three RBIs for Duanesburg (4-0 overall, 4-0 WAC).

Jenna Barhydt and Shawna Cotton each had a single for Fort Plain (3-1 overall, 2-1 WAC). Cotton also had an RBI for the Lady Hilltoppers.

SARATOGA SPRINGS – Myah Ondreyko had a grand slam in the bottom of the seventh to help Saratoga Catholic rally for a win over Canajoharie.

Cat Kelly’s single plated Natalie Pikus with the game-winning run after Pikus reached on a single.

Ondreyko went 4-for-4 for the Saints (3-0 overall, 3-0 WAC), while Sloan Conners was 3-for-4.

Bri Slater, Shy Logan and Lauren Balfe all had home runs for Canajoharie (1-2 overall, 1-2 WAC).
