Oppenheim building destroyed by fire

OPPENHEIM – A fire broke out Tuesday evening, destroying what remained of a house that was being demolished, a volunteer fire chief said.

Oppenheim Volunteer Fire Chief Scott DeNinno said the fire began at roughly 5:45 p.m. Tuesday on Youkers Bush Road, near County Highway 114.

Workers on the scene had been demolishing the building, he said, so little remained of the structure prior to the fire.

DeNinno said it took firefighters an hour and a half to put the fire out.

The cause of the fire has not been determined, he said.
