Volunteers aid seniors in Fulton County
As we approach the 40th annual National Volunteer Week, Sunday through April 27, we ask you to honor volunteers in Fulton County who tirelessly share their time and talent with those in need. This special week was designated by executive order by President Richard Nixon in 1974. This year’s theme is “Celebrate Service.”
The Fulton County Office for Aging is especially proud of all the volunteers who help us every day through many venues: delivering home delivered meals; serving on volunteer advisory councils; helping at the Senior Picnic; serving as volunteer ombudsmen; supporting the Senior Citizen’s Prom at Broadalbin-Perth Intermediate School; assisting people with health insurance options, and more.
National Volunteer Week is about inspiring, recognizing and encouraging people to seek ways to engage in their community. It’s about meeting our challenges not as isolated individuals, but as members of a community, with all of us working together.
Fulton County Office for Aging plans to honor volunteers at a reception to be held on April 25 at the Johnstown Senior Center. We look forward to this opportunity to say “thank you” to all who help us by supporting the seniors who live in Fulton County.
