Local runners compete in Boston

BOSTON – Several area runners were among those who competed in Monday’s 117th annual Boston Marathon.

Leading the local finishers was Fonda’s Kenneth Sluti, who finished 2,056th with a net time of 2:59.46.

Fort Plain’s Ryan Hudyncia was 2,063rd with a time of 2:59.47.

Broadalbin’s Randall Cannell placed 2,311th with a time of 3:01.20, while Sprakers’ Craig Dubois was 3,174th with a time of 3:06.58.

Fort Plain’s Rob Hudyncia placed 5,002nd with a time of 3:16.23, while St. Johnsville’s John Geesler was 5,006th with a time of 3:16.25.

It was Geesler’s 26th consecutive Boston Marathon.

Johnstown’s Lawrence Poitras was 8,965th with a time of 3:31.54.

Johnstown’s John Valovic also competed, but was unable to finish after race officials closed the course after explosions occurred near the finish line.
