Gloversville slates hearing on parking issue

GLOVERSVILLE – The Common Council has scheduled a public hearing to prohibit parking on the west side of Nelson Street.

The hearing will be held at 6 p.m. April 23 at City Hall.

Currently, during the winter, parking is prohibited on the west side of the narrow, one-way street.

Sixth Ward Councilman Wrandy Siarkowski suggested parking be eliminated on the west side of the street at all times of the year because the street is narrow.

Siarkowski said a resident of the street called him complaining that when cars park in the street, other cars can’t get through. The resident said if vehicles are parked on both sides of the road, emergency vehicles wouldn’t have enough room, according to Siarkowski.

Parking still would be permitted on the east side of the street.
