Northville board OKs new budget

NORTHVILLE- The Village Board approved a 2013-14 budget Tuesday night after a special board hearing.

Village Treasurer Nathaniel Matthews said earlier this month the budget of about $1.1 million will include a tax rate of $7.75 per $1,000 of assessed property value. The current rate is $7.65 per $1,000.

Matthers said no changes were made to the proposed budget.

Matthews said the budget would include $454,000 in tax revenue.

The budget increase was caused by increases in the cost of fuel and health insurance and benefits for employees.

The new budget uses approximately $295,000 from the village’s fund balance.

Salaries for the trustees and mayor will remain the same. Trustees are paid $1,750 per year, while the mayor earns $4,500 per year.
