H.S. Softball Roundup: Johnstown edges Amsterdam in nine innings

AMSTERDAM – Alexis Swatt doubled to score Jordan Hale in the top of the ninth to lift Johnstown to a 6-5 non-league win over Amsterdam at Shuttleworth Park on Monday.

Swatt finished 3-for-5 with two RBIs for the Lady Bills, while Hale was 2-for-4 with two runs scored.

Alyssa Palmateer was 3-for-4 with two doubles for Johnstown (1-1 overall). In the circle, Palmateer also earned her first career varsity win for the Lady Bills.

Ashley Przybylowicz had three hits for Amsterdam (0-2 overall), while Bayley Archinal, Brittany DuRose and Michela Puglisi all had two hits for the Lady Rams.

CANAJOHARIE – Maggie Hall and Catherine Borgstrom each had two hits to lead Cooperstown to a win over Canajoharie.

Ellen Vibbard earned the win for the Redskins, while Shyanna Logan took the loss for Canajoharie.

Lauren Balfe was 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs for Canajoharie (0-2 overall), while Brittany Pitonza was 2-for-2 with an RBI.

MAYFIELD – Anna Husain threw a four-hitter, leading Mayfield to a Western Athletic Conference win over Berne-Knox-Westerlo.

Husain struck out eight and at the plate, she had a single, triple, home run and two RBIs.

Mackenzie Biggers had two singles for the Lady Panthers (2-0 overall, 1-0 WAC), while Lisa Hime and Kiera Davis each a single and an RBI.

Duanesburg 16, St. Johnsville 1

ST. JOHNSVILLE – Marissa Nellis had the lone hit for St. Johnsville in a loss to Duanesburg.

The Lady Eagles scored in all five innings, including seven runs in the fourth and four in the fifth on their way to the win.

St. Johnsville (0-1 overall, 0-1 WAC) scored its lone run in the third inning.
