H.S. Baseball Roundup: B-P loses season opener, 5-1

ROTTERDAM – Sam Flood had the lone hit for Mohonasen in a 5-1 win over Broadalbin-Perth in a non-league baseball game Saturday.

The Mighty Warriors won despite not scoring an earned run.

Phil Hemstreet took the loss for B-P, walking six and striking out four. Hemstreet, Anthony Visco and Mike Visco combined to allow just one Mohonasen hit.

A.J. Klemczak had two hits and an RBI for B-P (0-1 overall), while Luigi Magliocca and Mike Visco each had one hit.

Broadalbin-Perth will travel to Hudson Falls on Monday for a 4:30 p.m. contest.

Fort Plain 12, Mekeel Christian 2

FORT PLAIN – Chris Hanifin picked up the win on the mound as Fort Plain improved to 2-0 overall and 2-0 in WAC play with a win over Mekeel Christian Academy on Saturday.

Fort Plain will host Frankfort-Schuyler on Tuesday at 4 p.m.


Greenwich 28, Mayfield 0

GREENWICH – The host Witches scored 12 times in the first inning on their way to a shutout win over Mayfield.

Pete Telesco and Jake Jennings combined for a three-hit shutout for Greenwich, which finished with 18 hits.

Jon Barnes had two home runs for the Witches, while Telesco also had a home run.

Ryan Hennessy, Colden Glover and Evan King all had singles for the Panthers.

Mayfield (0-1 overall, 0-0 WAC) will host Berne-Knox-Westerlo on Monday at 4:30 p.m.
