H.S. Baseball Roundup: St. Johnsville opens season with 15-0 win

ST. JOHNSVILLE – Dylan Klock pitched four innings of one-hit ball to lead St. Johnsville to a 15-0 season-opening non-league victory over Heatly Thursday at Soldiers and Sailors Park.

Klock was backed up by the Saints’ seven-run first inning and a six-run sixth inning en route to the shutout.

Klock helped the team at the plate, connecting for three doubles, while Payten Johnson contributed a triple and a single and Andrew Hart added a double and a single.

Brad Smith pitched two innings for the saints, giving up two hits, and Brandon Campione struck out the side in the top of the seventh.

Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake 3, Amsterdam 1

AMSTERDAM -The Rams pulled off a double steal in the second inning with Julian Gallup stealing home to take a 1-0 lead. However, Burnt Hills tied the game in the top of the fifth on a two-out, bases-loaded error and got doubles from Robbie Knights and Dan Maynard and a single from Dan Nuzzi to push two runs across the plate in the top of the seventh to secure the non-league victory.

Gallup doubled, singled and stole two bases for Amsterdam, while Rams starting pitcher Zach Dufel struck out five in 4 innings.

Burnt Hills was led by Nuzzi, who doubled and singled, while Maynard and Knights both doubled. Ryan McDonald struck out the side in the bottom of the seventh for the Spartans.
