H.S. Baseball Roundup: Fort Plain baseball wins opener, 10-2

FORT PLAIN – Marcus Failing struck out 15 and combined with Jesse Heroth on a four-hitter as Fort Plain topped Canajoharie, 10-2, Friday in a Western Athletic Conference baseball game.

The Hilltoppers broke the game open with a five-run outburst in the third inning.

Trent Douglas had a single, double, RBI and a run scored for Fort Plain (1-0 overall, 1-0 WAC), while Tim Wolfe had a single, double and three RBIs.

Kevin Shannon had a triple and a run scored for Canajoharie (0-1 overall, 0-1 WAC).

Fort Plain will host Mekeel Christian Academy today at 1 p.m.

Amsterdam 7, South Glens Falls 3

SOUTH GLENS FALLS – Andrew Rouse, Ayden Healy and Kolbie Glionna each had two hits to lead Amsterdam to a win over South Glens Falls.

The Rams scored five runs in the first three innings on their way to the win.

Amsterdam (1-1 overall) finished the game with 12 hits.

Travis Kirk had a home run, RBI and two runs scored for South Glens Falls (2-1 overall).

MAYFIELD – Friday’s non-league baseball game between Mayfield and Broadalbin-Perth was postponed.

The game was moved to April 25 at Mayfield at 4:15 p.m.

Broadalbin-Perth is scheduled to play at Mohonasen today at noon.
