Gloversville baseball opens with two wins

VALATIE – The Gloversville baseball team opened its season with a pair of wins at Ichabod Crane and Chatham on Monday.

In the first game, Chris Rockefeller and Kyle Casimiro both had three hits and two RBIs as the Huskies topped Ichabod Crane, 9-2.

Michael Murray also had three hits and scored three runs for Gloversville, while Michael Fancher added two hits, a run scored and an RBI.

Rockefeller earned the win on the mound, allowing one hit, striking out two and walking five in three innings of work. Anthony Oathout and Justin Putnam also pitched for Gloversville, which allowed just two hits by Ichabod Crane (0-2 overall).

In the second game of the day, Gloversville posted a 9-4 win at Chatham.

Casimiro went the distance on the mound for the Huskies, allowing three hits, striking our four and walking one.

Murray, Putnam, Rockefeller, Fancher and Ben VanNostrand all had two hits for Gloversville. Murray also scored two runs and stole three bases, while Putnam finished with two runs scored. Rockefeller added three RBIs for the Huskies, while VanNostrand had two RBIs.

Caleb Gregg had a hit and two RBIs for Chatham (0-2 overall).

Gloversville will host Queensbury on April 8 in its Foothills Council opener.
