Police chief: Lock vehicles, homes
BROADALBIN- Village Police Commissioner Theodore Bocheneck is advising residents to secure their personal belongings after a vehicle was reported stolen.
According to a news release from village Clerk and Treasurer Sheila Bleyl, Bocheneck is reminding village residents to lock their vehicles and homes.
Fulton County Sheriff’s Office Lt. William Ferry said two incidents were reported Saturday night in the village. Ferry said one car on Maple Street appeared as if someone had searched through it. Nothing was missing, Ferry said.
However, later that night, a car was reported stolen on First Avenue, he said. The keys had been left in the vehicle, Ferry said.
Ferry said the vehicle was found in the morning in the city of Amsterdam, with nothing missing from the vehicle.
Ferry said he believes the two cases were related.
Bocheneck did not return repeated calls for comment.
Mayor Eugene Christopher declined to comment on the break-ins.
