Child started fatal fire: officials
GLOVERSVILLE – A child started the fire that killed a man at a Fifth Avenue home March 20, the city Fire Department announced today.
An investigation found the fire started after a “young child” used a lighter to set a blanket ablaze in the first-floor living room, a news release said.
The fire at 34 Fifth Ave., claimed the life of Donald E. Larimore, who was visiting the residence, and injured resident Marcus E. VanSlyke, 66.
