Johnstown to host winterguard event

JOHNSTOWN – The Greater Johnstown School District will host the 17th annual Artistry In Motion Winterguard home show Saturday

Doors will open at 3 p.m. for the event, and the show will start at 4 p.m. Tickets will cost $6 per person, and $5 for students and seniors.

This is a dual show with color guards performing from both the MidYork Color Guard Circuit and the Northeast Color Guard circuit.

The Johnstown School District along with the Johnstown Music Support Group are very proud of both the Amethyst JV Winterguard and the Amethyst Gold Varsity Winterguard.

The color guards competed March 2 at Mohonasen High School with the Amethyst JV Guard placing third in the cadet class and Amethyst Gold Varsity Guard took first place with a 81.42 score.

The Varsity Guard Amethyst Gold will travel to Kingston R.I., on March 23 to perform at the Winter Guard International Eastern Championships and will compete against several units in the Scholastic A class.

The JV and the Varsity Winterguards also will attend the Northeast State Championships on April 6 in Rochester.

The Varsity Winterguard Amethyst Gold will attend the MidYork State championships April 7 in Syracuse.

Also the Varsity winterguard Amethyst Gold will travel to Dayton, Ohio, April 11-13 for the Winterguard International World Championships.

The Johnstown Winterguards are under the direction of Christine VanValkenburgh and the assistant director is Joseph Olmstead.
