Man charged after car chase: deputies

FULTONVILLE – Montgomery County sheriff’s deputies said a man was arrested after a high-speed chase Sunday that went through Fulton, Montgomery and Herkimer counties.

Kyle J. Edick, 22, of 20 Ford Lane, Little Falls, was charged with first-degree reckless endangerment, third-degree unlawfully fleeing a police officer, reckless operation and was issued traffic tickets.

Deputies said they were informed of an attempt by Johnstown Police to stop a white Volkswagen Jetta going south on Route 30A when the Edick was driving in the southbound lane.

Edick’s vehicle left its lane and continued south in the northbound lane, deputies said, facing a deputy’s marked patrol car.

Edick passed the patrol car going 80 miles per hour, deputies said, and continued south.

Deputies said they followed Edick and saw him run several red lights. Edick eventually got to Herkimer County, deputies said, where Little Falls and State Police officers continued with attempts to stop Edick.

Deputies said officers discontinued the chase after identifying the driver.

Edick turned himself in to Little Falls police, who then turned him over to Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office deputies for arrest.

Edick is being held for arraignment in Town Court.
