Two hurt in head-on crash on Route 30A

GLOVERSVILLE – Two motorists were injured in a head-on collision on Route 30A between South Kingsboro Avenue and Harrison Street.

According to the accident report, both drivers were transported by ambulance to Albany Medical Center Hospital.

The report said Joel K. Rios, of 396 Currytown Road, Sprakers, was southbound on Route 30A and struck the car driven by Betty L. Goldbeck, of 578 Griffin Road, Wells, who was driving in the oncoming lane.

Witness Lawson Ippoliti, who was directly behind Goldbeck, and witness Joe Wilson, who was directly behind Rios, gave the same account, police said.

Chief Donald VanDeusen said it was not known why Rios changed lanes, but the investigation in ongoing. He said police don’t suspect drugs or alcohol were involved.

Rios was issued a traffic ticket for failing to stay in his lane, police said.
