Guns needed for defense

As a gun owner and a person who is now suing Gov. Andrew Cuomo because of the New York Safe Act, I wish to answer a question by Neil Heslin, whose 6-year-old son, Jesse, was killed in Newtown, Conn. His question was, “I ask if there’s anybody in this room that can give me one reason or challenge: why anybody in this room needs to have – one of those military weapons or a high-capacity clips?”

My answers, there are three, are I need them to: to protect my family; I need them to protect myself; and I need them to protect you, Mr. Heslin and my country, the United States of America.

The Second Amendment was put in place by our forefathers in 1791 so that each and every able-bodied citizen of this country could be ready in a moment’s notice to protect life, liberty and this country.

It is amazing how naive and uneducated the people of this country have become, including Gov. Andrew Cuomo, to believe that this country cannot be invaded by foreign nations. Does anyone remember what happened on Sept. 11, 2001? Apparently not.

If people in this country believe they can protect themselves and their families using only a single-shot rifle against a Chinese or Korean assault weapon, may God help them.

If the people of this state of New York or the United States takes away my rights, including my rights to keep and bear arms (including assault weapons), I will not fight for you or protect you in your time of need.

And I will not protect those government officials from the wrath of a foreign leader.

The choice is yours, my rights or foreign takeover.
