Diane Adelman Orloff
Diane “Dee” Adelman Orloff, 66, of Northville, N.Y., passed away on February 5, 2013, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Amsterdam, N.Y., with her loving family by her side. She battled a long illness with cancer. Born on January 26, 1947, in Amsterdam, N.Y., she was the daughter of Morris (deceased) and Ruth Adelman of Gloversville, N.Y. Diane attended public schools in Gloversville and was a graduate of SUNY Brockport.
She spent her professional career making a positive difference in the lives of many children as an elementary school teacher in Broadalbin, N.Y. She left a lasting impression on many of her students. To this day, former students would still recognize her and tell her she was one of their favorite teachers.
Diane had been married for 34 years to her loving husband, John Orloff, who predeceased her in June of 2012. She is survived and will be forever missed by: her devoted son, John Orloff Jr. of Northville; her dearest mother, Ruth Adelman of Gloversville, N.Y.; devoted brother, Glenn Adelman and sister-in-law, Linda of Johnstown, N.Y.; compassionate sister, Peggy (Adelman) and brother-in-law, Chris Livingstone of New Milford, Conn. Diane will also be especially missed by her aunts, Eleanor Breier of Amsterdam, N.Y. and Barbara Cramer of Arizona. She is also survived by her nephew, Bryan Adelman of Rochester, N.Y.; nieces, Julie Adelman Risley of Johnstown, N.Y., Jennifer and Kelly Livingstone of New Milford, Conn.; and their families, and many cousins.
In addition to her devotion to her family, Diane enjoyed spending time in her garden, watching wildlife at her bird feeder, following her favorite sports teams (Yankees, Giants and Knicks), dining out with her husband John, friends and family at their many favorite local restaurants. Diane and John were also longtime members of the Pine Brook Golf Club in Gloversville, N.Y. In her earlier years, she enjoyed tennis and bowling.
Final arrangements are planned to be private. In lieu of flowers, the family requests you make donations in Diane’s memory to Mountain Valley Hospice, 108 Steele Ave., Gloversville, NY 12078.
