Lower speed limits denied by DOT
AMSTERDAM – Supervisor Thomas DiMezza recently announced that requests made to the state Department of Transportation to lower the speed limit in some areas have been denied.
DiMezza, in a news release, said several requests from residents led it to file requests with DOT to lower the speed limit on Midline, Steadwell, McKay and Golf Course roads.
DOT officials said they studied lowering the speed limits on the mentioned roads.
“We found that the need for a reduced speed limit has not been met,” Linda A. Lubey, DOT regional traffic engineer, wrote in letters included in the news release.
DiMezza said that it is possible to file requests in the future, however.
