Fort Plain man killed in accident

FORT PLAIN – A funeral service will take place Wednesday for a Fort Plain man who died in a one-car accident on Route 5 in Little Falls on Friday.

Bo M. Baker, 21, of Center Street, died after he lost control of his vehicle sometime before 6:45 a.m., state police reported.

Police said Baker was heading west on the highway when his vehicle went off the south shoulder, struck a snow embankment and overturned, coming to rest on its roof. The vehicle was partially submerged in a pond adjacent to the roadway, police said.

A passing motorist called 911 after seeing the vehicle, police said. Baker was the only occupant of the 2004 Chevrolet Cavalier, police said.

An autopsy is planned, police said.

Baker, who was born in Gloversville, is a former Fort Plain High School athlete. He was a catcher for his high school baseball team, according to his obituary.

The funeral will take place at the Fort Plain Reformed Church. Visiting hours are Tuesday.
