December jobless rates released
The State Labor Department released unemployment rates for December, and Fulton, Hamilton and Montgomery counties had rates higher than 10 percent.
Hamilton County had the highest rate of the three counties at 10.8 percent – the fourth highest rate in the state – with Fulton County at 10.5 percent and Montgomery County at 10 percent.
All three counties figures were above their December 2011 numbers – 9.5 percent, 10 percent and 9.7 percent, respectively – and above their November 2012 rates of 10.5 percent, 9.6 percent and 9.2 percent, respectively.
All three unemployment rates were higher than the state rate of 8.2 percent and the nation’s 7.6 percent unemployment rate.
